Sun, Sea & Sand #9weekstogo

Whilst holidaying in the emirates, a visit to the beach is a must! The desert territory allows you an instant escape from the cold wintery snow (although an indoor ski slope is available just in case). With temperatures soaring into the 30s everyday, it is a perfect place to kick back and relax!

We shall visit Jumeirah Beach and/or JBR beach. Both have white sand, crystal clear, turquoise-blue ocean and views of the Burj Al Arab. There are plenty of activities for everyone, including paddle boarding, kayaking or sun bathing. This beach has also been a great location for some serious people watching.

It is worth sticking around as the sun goes down to witness a truly gorgeous sunset.
Dress code: Just an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini for the girls and swim shorts for the boys.
Remember: flip flops, sun cream (factor 30+), a beach towel, iPod and a good book to read.

Skydive Dubai #10weekstogo

Say hello to the most exciting, most exhilarating and most adrenaline pumping activity that you will ever do. EVER. I experienced this myself last year and I would do it again in a heartbeat.dive2

Skydive Dubai is in a great location near the the Palm Jumeirah, allowing for breath-taking views of the famous palm, ‘the world’ islands, the Burj Al Arab, Dubai's Skyline all the way down to the tallest building in the world: the Burj Khalifa and so much more.

Everyone at skydive Dubai is extremely friendly, enthusiastic and well trained to deal with worried nervous girls, reminding them that your goggles will not save you. Their job is to keep you safe, your job is to have fun!

After signing your life away with all of the relevant paper work, you will get kitted up in a full body harness and learn how to “be the banana”. However, all of the “training” literally goes out the window when you are free falling at 13,000 feet over the palm.

You will have a lovely camera person follow you around, capturing all of your emotions from the time you kit up to the time you land. At the end of this life changing event, you can re-live every second with an awesome video and over 100 pictures.

What it's all about...

This blog is dedicated to my loving & crazy family who are coming to Dubai at the end of March this year for our first family holiday in over ten years! It is a big occasion and there has been lots of excited discussion about what we will do when in Dubai.

Each week I will showcase all of the highlights of our pending family holiday. I am currently living in Abu Dhabi, I have a massive advantage of knowing all of the popular, out of the ordinary and spectacular activities to do in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

I hope you enjoy my little updates and learn something new about Dubai. Also known as Disneyland for adults!!!

By now I am sure you are getting very excited to travel to the middle east in 11 weeks time. I bet you are worried about my organisational skills of this massive event in the Jones family calendar. Not to fear...  Each week I will send you an update on the activities which we will be doing upon your arrival in the UAE. We will being visiting the truly royal, grand and very over the top, self acclaimed 7 star hotel. Afternoon tea will be  in the sky bar on the 27th floor, 200m above sea level. We will enjoy lots of yummy treats in the sky bar and drink the most expensive glass of Champage (that is included in the price) If you want seconds, it will set you back 30 squid per glass.OUCH.

Be prepared to have our own personal waiter who will supply us with a steady flow of treats and nibbles while we admire the view of the open ocean and the surrounding Dubai.

The very high profile Burj Al Arab requires a reservation booking which I will make closer to the time for around Charlotte & Benjamin's 21st Birthday celebrations.
